Mountain Standard Time

Beaches Ain’t Shit!

After seeing the Lakers get spanked and put in timeout by my new look Nuggets, I’ve been feeling a lot of CO pride lately.  See, I know that when it comes to fresh and new electronic music, almost everyone automatically looks to LA and New York as the place to be.  But you should wait a sec before you bolt for the coast (Sean!), because the Colorado music scene is as crazy, genuine, and filthtastic as any.  Besides having some of the best venues in the country like Beta (Funktion-1) and Redrocks, Colorado is home to tons of super talented DJ/Producers that are melting speakers all across the Front Range.  We’ve all seen Pretty Lights take the country by storm and put Ft. Collins on the map.  But now with so many other amazing up-and-comers on the scene, Colorado is bound to keep stinkin like the rodeo’s in town…

Project Aspect (Jay Jaramillo) is one of the most promising producers coming out of Colorado.   The dude kills it live and his sound is a self described “…vast array of heavy bass tones, melodic ambience, whompy hyphy crunchy beats, and mashup acapellas…”  Warning: Get some Tums before pressing play.

Downright destroyin this Chromeo remix.

Project Aspect – Night by Night (remix)

If you’ve been partying till sunrise in Ibiza recently then you’re no doubt familiar with this hit “Stereo Love” by Edward Maya featuring Vika Jigulina (120 million views!?!).  Here, Jay throws some womp onto this club track, giving us this beautifully rustified remix.

McADOO is a DJ/Producer bumping some great progressive house up in Boulder.  His edit of Hardwell’s “Molotv” is a definite party-starter.   Listen till 2:00, you’ll see ..

Hardwell- Molotov Raindrops (McADOO Vocal Edit)

Proper Motion is the Boulder based duo of NoJah (Noah Marion) and DuRty HaRry (Harrison Watkins).  This sick remix of Curtis Mayfield’s classic “Pusherman” strikes a perfect balance – Proper Motion manages to throw a stanky beat onto this laidback track while still showcasing the smooth, soulful sound that made Curtis Mayfield a legend. Great cruisin song!
