Catchin’ a bit of flack for passing up on a post about Seven Lions’ new EP and Single so here they are. I’m still a bigger fan of his remixes of Above and Beyond and Florence and the Machine but his original stuff is pretty close in stink-quality. I recommend “Below Us”; you can really hear his talent at about 2:20.

Might be a little late on this post (ok a year late) but as they say, better to stank later than to have never stank at all. Bassnectar has been featured on the beats on many an occasion and continues to stay on the top of the stink charts as far as we’re concerned. Bassnectar’s remix of Ellie Goulding’s “Lights” is no exception.

There are just a handful of songs in my life when I can remember the exact moment when I first heard them. I can recall with easy clarity almost all of these songs because, in a lot of ways, they defined the moment so well. I would even argue that the biggest reason we listen to music is for these exact moments: when we find something just… perfect. A song that fully completes who we are, if but for those few minutes. All of the best moments in my life, come to think of it, have become associated with a particular song somehow. I recently came across one of these songs (thanks, Mackenzie). It is beyond stinky- it’s simply beautiful. I hope you find Mr. Little Jeans‘s song as lovely as I do.

Sometimes it may seem like we post a lot of similar style stuff here on teh Beats; today we diversify. I randomly came across Sky Monkey while floatin’ through the cloud and was impressed by his ability to blend classical music into his electronic background. While there are some disconnects with flow (as should be expected from a blend this unique), there are multiple breaks where you can see his potential shine through. I have a feeling the Monkey will be flinging some more of his unique stink at us in the near future.

Porter’s “Language” is one of his more commercial sounding tracks, but this doesn’t mean that it is any less stinky. Seeing this was definitely one of the highlights at ‘cheller.

In the time of the dinosaurs, the stink came from methane, life juice, and multi-ton piles of dino poo. Luckily for us, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs used dino poo as inspiration to give us the modern stench we know today. Smooth and catchy, T-E-E-D’s “Household Goods” has the beat to keep your toes tapping and the subtle grime to keep your head bobbing. This song reminds me a little of Phoenix… if Phoenix dropped a little more stink.
